Brynn Marie’s life is a country song!
She was born into a family of coal miners, was a cheerleader, a homecoming queen and even played in the family faith and worship band. While these experiences are the backdrop to a future in music, it’s her talent that is the making of a country music legend.
Brynn is not some manufactured pop star, she is a real person with genuine talent and a real story to share. “I grew up in a small town, where my great granddaddy all the way down to my dad were all coal miners,” explains Brynn.
She readily admits that she was certainly a small town girl with big time dreams. “My parents always told me to dream big and that anything was possible”. Raised in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, a place where “Football is everything, it truly is “Friday Night Lights” I mean the whole town shuts down. All we did was football, so much so that I wanted to be on the team!”
While she never played a down, she was a proud cheerleader, and also in the marching band in her tiny high school of only 88 graduates. In fact, the school was so small that she would trade off doing a cheer and then run over to the marching band to do a number.
With her mind made up and her passion intact, Brynn set out to conquer the music world one gig at a time. She honed her craft by playing countless gigs in Pennsylvania’s coal country. “I think I definitely paid my dues with those gigs in and around Pennsylvania. We would play almost every night til 2am and took any gig offered” It’s these moments that convinced her to pursue her career full time. “I just love to perform whether it’s for a handful of people, or a stadium full of fans.”
After getting her parent’s blessings and consulting her grandmother, she decided to pack it up and move to Nashville to make her dream a reality. “My Gram is a very strong willed and independent woman. I look up to her because she always speaks her mind and tells the truth. She told me simply…”Brynn, you be you and you’ll be fine” So with her sage advice in mind, Brynn moved to music city but had an atypical plan of attack. “I decided that I have to “be me” and to trust my talent.”
It wasn’t long before Brynn had a gang of friends, a band to jam with and soon after, the opportunities came calling. “One day I was at band rehearsal and my phone rang in between songs, normally I wouldn’t answer it during rehearsals, but, my Gram came to mind, so I did.” This was a fortuitous phone call indeed, Brynn was offered an opportunity to perform all over the Persian Gulf entertaining our troops stationed in the Middle East. This was a rewarding but grueling tour that consisted of 18 shows in 21 days in 5 countries. Even being 7000 miles away from home, Brynn remains the small town girl. When asked if there were anything she’d like to do while not traveling or onstage she replied, “Can I go fishing?” So on the back of a billion dollar warship, Brynn, her brother and the Captain dropped a line in the Persian Gulf. “It was so fun to feel like I was home, even in the middle of a war zone.”
Once stateside, again many more gigs came to Brynn. “I feel so blessed. My band and I have played all over the country from tiny acoustic gigs, to honky-tonks and stadiums as a support act.” One such opportunity was to open for a living legend and fellow Coal Miner’s Daughter, Miss Loretta Lynn.
However, in true Brynn fashion, when she opened for Loretta Lynn she was more in awe of the woman than the country legend. “She was just like my grandmother, strong and sweet. She met my whole family and told me I was lucky to have such support and love. I was simply blown away by her, especially, because I have always admired my family more than any “star”. So that incredible moment, with such an icon really cemented my hometown roots, faith and what matters in my life.”
Blessed with humility and a huge musical gift, Brynn has finished her first EP, titled “Things Change”. These sessions were helmed by engineer Drew Bollman at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville and features a who’s who of session players. “This music is all about my journey. I really think people will relate to it because, it is all about how love will find you and to not be afraid of who you are. Just live life to the fullest and be yourself. That’s the theme of the album from front to back,” explains Brynn.
“Things Change” is a beautiful collection of melodies, performances and integrity. Each song has purpose, soul and Brynn’s genuine character and authentic talent shining throughout.
She’s not just another country star on the rise, she is the real deal, she is Brynn Marie!
